This policy explains what personal information Maverick Sportfishing Costa Rica (“Maverick”, “we”, “us”) collects through mavericksportfish.com, how we use it and the choices you have. If you have questions, email info@mavericksportfish.com or call (877) 579-1612.
Information you give us
Quote and booking requests. When you request a quote, we collect your name, email, phone number, travel dates, number of guests and fishing days, whether you need transportation or lodging, how you heard about us, the boat you are interested in and anything you write about your trip.
Provisioning requests. When you order groceries for your rental, we collect your name, email, phone number, the rental company and unit, your arrival date and time, number of guests, your shopping list, any special instructions, your initials and your authorization for our team to enter the rental to deliver the order.
Emails and calls. If you contact us directly, we keep the messages and details you share so we can answer and plan your trip.
We do not take payments on this website. Deposits and balances are handled directly with our reservations team, as described in our payment and cancellation policies.
Information collected automatically
Analytics. We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. Google Analytics sets cookies and collect information such as the pages you visit, how you arrived at the site, your approximate location, device and browser. Google processes this information under its own privacy policy.
Inquiry source cookies. Our own cookies (mav_touch, mav_ref and mav_lead) remember how you first found us, for example a Google search or a link from another site, and attach that source and a reference number to any request you send. They last 90 days.
Server logs. Our hosting provider records technical information such as IP addresses and browser type to keep the site secure and working.
How we use your information
- To answer your requests and plan and confirm your charter, stay, tours or provisioning.
- To contact you about your booking before, during and after your trip.
- To understand which pages and marketing bring visitors to us and improve the site.
- To send our newsletter, only if you sign up for it. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in every email.
- To meet legal, accounting and safety obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
- Trip partners you ask us to book with, such as boat crews, rental and property managers, transport and tour operators, but only the details they need to provide the service.
- Service providers that run the website and our communications, such as web hosting, email and Google Analytics.
- Authorities when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep booking requests and correspondence for as long as needed to plan and support your trip and to meet accounting and legal requirements. Analytics data is kept according to our Google Analytics retention settings.
Your choices and rights
- You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it, by emailing info@mavericksportfish.com.
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s opt-out add-on.
We are based in Costa Rica and handle personal data in line with Costa Rica’s Law 8968 on the protection of personal data. If you contact us from another country, your information is processed in Costa Rica and by our service providers in other countries, including the United States.
Children
This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information online.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
